Fields Monastrell in harvest

Fields Monastrell in harvest
3 de October de 2019 by Bodegas Pinoso

Our queen variety, the Monastrell, has already started to harvest. It is estimated that about 3,500,000 kg of Monastrell grapes, corresponding to 70% of the harvest, will be cut.

This variety can be found in most of the districts of Pinoso, as in the Caballusa, the Casas Ibáñez, the Culebrón, the Encebras, the Lel, the Paredón, the Rodriguillo and in Ubeda, besides in other places, and neighboring municipalities.

It is the Monastrell a late cycle ink variety, which is harvested in late September and October, when the rest of the varieties of the winery have already been harvested. It requires many hours of sun, and cool nights, like those in Pinoso. This year, the climatology has helped to make the maturation of the Monastrell very good, since there is a good balance between technological and phenolic maturation.

It is our climatic conditions and peculiar orography that make it possible to extract the best of the Monastrell. In particular we obtain grapes with a good balance between alcoholic strength and acidity, which will serve as the basis for most of the wines produced in Bodegas Pinoso, and which will bring to the typical wine: intense and deep colors, ripe and spicy notes. Differentiating elements that make the wines of Pinoso Wineries are recognized nationally and internationally.
